Lumière
Our story
A chemist, a dermatologist and a very short ingredient list.
Lumière was founded in a rented kitchen in 2019 by a formulation chemist who was tired of writing ingredient lists she could not defend, and a dermatologist who was tired of reading them.
The short list
Most of what goes into a bottle of skincare is there to make the product feel expensive: silicones for slip, fragrance for the first impression, colourants so it looks like the photograph. We took all of it out, and then we put back only what a study could justify.
The result is formulas with eight to twelve ingredients instead of forty. They are less luxurious to open and considerably better at their job.
The glass
Our bottles are made of heavy pharmaceutical glass, and they are meant to stay with you. Send one back and we sterilise and refill it; order a pouch and refill it yourself. Either way the bottle is the last one you buy from us.
The testing
Every formula is patch-tested by a dermatologist on a panel of real skin, across skin tones and skin types, before it is sold to anyone. It is never tested on an animal, and it never contains an ingredient of animal origin.
